Primroses: do not pick, but protect

Every year, the Ministry of Natural Resources pays special attention to the problem of the population collecting primroses. Due to unstable temperature and weather conditions, the number and location of the first flowers varies greatly.

As the chief specialist of the regional committee of natural resources and environmental protection Gennady Gorlanov said , the mass collection of primroses undermines their population size and ability to grow. For many species, annual collection with damage to the root system has caused a sharp reduction in their distribution area. Among the primroses listed in the Red Book are forest anemone, soft lungwort, meadow lumbago (sleep-grass), open prostele. Noble liverwort and spring primrose require preventive protection. From mid-April to the end of May, you can find fresh wild garlic in the markets - a spicy herb that has an external resemblance to lily of the valley and tastes like garlic. Due to its nutritional qualities, the plant is very popular among the people. However, not everyone knows that wild garlic, or bear onion, is listed in the Red Book and its collection is prohibited. The plant became rare due to barbaric destruction. When spring arrives, hundreds of people comb the forests in search of their favorite greenery. It was the unlimited collection and trampling that led to the reduction of growing areas. The best way to help nature is to grow wild garlic yourself in your garden. It is unpretentious and reproduces well by seeds and seedlings.

Violation of the rules for the protection of wild plants listed in the Red Book, their unauthorized seizure or destruction entails a fine of up to 30 basic units for an individual, up to 150 basic units for an individual entrepreneur, and up to 500 basic units for a legal entity. In addition, for each removed plant, a damage compensation rate of 5 BV is established.
