Vitebsk hockey players won at home in the first match of the playoffs of the Belarusian championship. Photo report from the match

 

Today “Vitebsk” hosted “Brest” in their opening match of the quarterfinal playoff series. The game caused an unprecedented fan excitement in Vitebsk.

Egor Stepanov opened the scoring in the opening of the second period (pictured). 

Also in this twenty-minute period the Brest residents restored their balance. 

Let us note that over the course of two periods the game was an equal fight. At the same time, the guests attacked quite sharply, but Maxim Malyutin played excellently in the Vitebsk goal. 

In the opening of the third period, Brest missed the chance to take the lead, the goalkeeper played great.  

And in response, “Vitebsk” scored a goal. Moreover, forward Viktor Gavrilenko, who did not score a single goal in the regular championship, distinguished himself.

Encouraged by the deafening support of the fans, the Vitebsk players finally seized the initiative. 

And before the end of the match, the hosts scored twice more. Nikita Yadroets and Ilya Kambovich distinguished themselves. 

As a result, “Vitebsk” won with a score of 4:1.

The next match between the teams will take place in Vitebsk on March 12, then the opponents will play twice in Brest. The series goes up to four wins.
