Agricultural production in EAEU up by 3.2% in January-May 2023

 


 Agricultural production in the EAEU member states increased by 3.2% in January-May, official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina told a briefing for the press in Moscow on 26 July, BelTA has learned.

"In January-May 2023 agricultural production in the EAEU rose by 3.2% to total RUBr2.5 trillion. The highest growth of 5.4% was posted by Belarus,” Iya Malkina said.

In January-May 2023 industrial output in the EAEU amounted to RUB44 trillion, up by almost 2% year-on-year. The growth was observed in all member states of the union, the highest one - in Belarus (by more than 4%). In the structure of industrial production in the EAEU, the manufacturing sector holds the largest specific weight (over 65%). Its share increased by 4% year-on-year.

"The volume of completed construction works surged by 9.2% and amounted to RUB4.8 trillion. The highest growth was recorded in Armenia (more than 47%). Housing construction growth was registered in Armenia and Kazakhstan. In January - May 2023, passenger transportation made up 5.7 billion people, which was 8.4% more than in the same period a year prior," Iya Malkina said.

In January-May of this year, the EAEU GDP totaled RUB41.5 trillion, down by 1.1% year-on-year.
